

Unfortunately, it isn't quite as interactive as the overhauled high schools in The Sims 4's High School Years pack aim to be. Sims can start attending middle school, which functions the same as elementary school in The Sims 4. Sims can now age from a child into a preteen rather than a teenager, a process that comes with its own unique challenges and gameplay features. To help better prepare for the upcoming changes to high school teens in The Sims 4, players can add in an entirely new life stage with the addition of The Sims 4's Pre-Teen mod by ItsKatato. While there are still some big aspects that The Sims 4 has yet to bring back, such as a color wheel and an open world, many of The Sims 4's biggest problems have otherwise been solved thanks to a mixture of add-ons and mods from the Sims fan community. These DLCs have helped significantly to build up The Sims 4 from its state at launch, which was met with criticism from long-time Sims players for its lack of features, especially compared to The Sims 3. Each also comes with an additional world for players to build in and explore. Although there are a wide variety of other packs and kits available for The Sims 4, ranging from Stuff packs to Game packs, its expansions bring the most major changes to the game, usually by adding new features or overhauling existing ones. The latest DLC is The Sims 4's twelfth major expansion since its release in 2014. The pack's first trailer, while not showcasing absolutely everything coming to High School Years, did show off an impressive amount of the upcoming gameplay additions, including a new world and a clothing creation feature. Rumors regarding a DLC centered around teenage Sims had been circulating for about a month prior. High School Years was officially announced in late June, shortly after EA teased a new Sims 4 expansion pack.
